When Kara was a child, her father always told her she should be an architect when she grew up. Years later, she was excited to call him to share that she had been hired by an architecture firm. It wasn’t quite the end result they had joked about since she was hired not as an architect, but as a human resource manager. Born and raised in California, Kara graduated from the University of the Pacific and started her career in the staffing industry. She worked for a local firm as a Staffing Specialist and was eventually promoted to Staffing Manager where she supervised a group of Specialists and led all of the internal training. She moved to Colorado and continued working in the staffing industry and in IT staffing. After deciding to pursue a broader HR career, she was hired on with Gensler as their Human Resource Manager. There she worked on various generalist tasks and handled employee relations. She is thrilled to be back in the design world after taking some time to be at home with her young children.

 

In addition to her work experience, Kara has been very active in her local elementary school. She has served on the PTCO (Parent Teacher Community Organization) board for four years working on various fundraisers, auctions, and the development of events and programs within the school.
